Have I mentioned I hate speed work? Well, I do.
Today called for LT 9 w/4 miles at 15K to HMP. I do not have a clue what my 15K or HMP is so I had to fake it. Actually, I am way more fit cardio-wise than I am speed-wise right now so I decided to push it at an effort that I hoped I could hold for 4 miles. I was pushing hard but ended up with a freakishly low heart rate for my pace:
Mile - Split HR
1 - 8:23 136.0
2 - 8:20 139.8
3 - 8:15 143.4
4 - 7:59 147.4
For some perspective, HR 136 is the top end of my recovery zone!
My watch said I set three PR's during the run Fastest 10K, Fastest 5K, and Fastest Mile. Oh, and it also said I have new VO2 Max of 53.
Hopefully, I won't feel dead tomorrow because the schedule calls for 11 miles. Yes, I decided to go for the 55 to 70 miles a week plan!
